Tako-yaki (Pan-fried dumpling with octopus)

Some unique but favored food is this Japanese soul food from Western Japan, "Takoyaki".

It is a round ball of bonito stock flavored flour with scallions, ginger and not to forget ocotpus.

So interesting to see the guy cooking turning the semi-sphered flour cake into a all using only a pick.

There are various flavors you can try.

Fishing game in Japan

In Japan, fishing has turned into an arcade game.

You buy 10 coins for 100yen (about $1.00 U.S.) and you exchange coins to get a fishing rod.

You cast the bait by actually swishing the rod.

When the fish bites on the bait, you can actually feel the rod shaking as if you're fighting with the fish.

It's something you may want to try when you get into a Japanese arcade center.

Bad news...3D projection mapping event has been terminated

Due to many people gathering over the weekend to watch the 3D projection mapping at Tokyo station, people who were not able to watch it from the sidewalk began watching the show on the street.

Because of it, it seems the police have ordered the event to be terminated...

Until December 28th! 3D projection mapping at Tokyo station!!

There's a 3D projection mapping event which began from December 21st. (Ends on 28th)

It uses the JR Tokyo station as a screen.

The thing is, because it uses a major structure, it gets very crowded during the show that there may be a time when the show gets cancelled.

Unlike the show at Caretta Shiodome, the last show of the day begins at 19:40 (07:40p.m.).

Almost over!! 3D projection mapping at Caretta Shiodome (Tokyo)

If you're in Japan and staying in Tokyo, I recommend you go take a walk to Caretta Shiodome in Tokyo, walking distance from JR Shinbashi station to go watch a 3D projection mapping event.

The show is about 6 minutes long and repeated every 20 minutes starting from 17:00 (05:00p.m.), last show at 22:20 (10:20p.m.)

It will end on December 25th!!

Gundam (robot) at Odaiba (Tokyo)

There was a famous robot animation called "Gundam" in the 1970s.

Since then, it has become a very major animation that now, there are various version of it still continuing to this day.

And because it has become soooo popular, they have decided to make a museum at Diver City Odaiba in Tokyo.

In front of the building where the Gundam museum is located, they built a "supposed to be" full scale Gundam.

It's worth seeing it from a nearby distance if you are interested in robots.

Tori no ichi festival

Here's a Youtube video I created from pictures taken at a festival in Asakusa, Tokyo called the "Tori no ichi".

It is always held in November, and as you can see in the video, there are lots of ornamented rakes to rake in (bring in) fortune.

Welcome!!

I decided to create this weblog just to show everyone what they can expect or may find in Japan.

There will be cases where I'll be introducing places I've traveled abroad.

If you like it, please add it as your favorite!!

Thank you!
