Had a chance to take some pictures of models of the mythical monsters in Japan.
Here's some, but it is believed that there's a whole bunch of them all over Japan.
If you travel to Sakai Minato in Tottori prefecture, you'll be able to see a street full of these monsters.
This one here is called "Oni" (ogre).
Believed to be the cause of epidemic or natural disasters.
This one here is called "Kawauso" (otter).
A monster which transforms into people and lies.
This ogre is a unique ogre called "Makura kaeshi" (Pillow turnover).
When you wake up in the morning and find the pillow in a different place on your bed, it is believed that this ogre changed the location of your pillow.
This monster is called "Kappa" (water sprite).
It is known as a good swimmer and likes to play Sumo wrestling.
This nasty looking monster is called "Kubi kajiri"(neck muncher).
It is believed to be a monster arising from the dead and digs out neck from the grave and starts munching on it.
